What surprised us most?
The
first surprise for us appeared when we arrived in our correspondents'
houses: the French (mostly) don't remove their shoes at home – even
if they live in a flat. But sometimes they have some areas where they
take off their footwear (e.g. in the bathrooms or in the bedrooms) –
it depends on the family. (Note: they clean the floor once or twice a
week.)
Another
thing which astonished us were the toilets. Our attempts to find the
male/female cubicle were in the most cases unsuccessful. The toilets
were mutual at school, in the restaurants... It pleased mostly the
girls – suddenly they weren't the only ones who had to wait in a
queue.
We
feel really sorry for our French friends due to the ban on the use of
their mobile phones in the school building which must be observed
during the classes as well as during the breaks. You are not allowed
even to look at the clock, otherwise your mobile phone can be
confiscated for even one week.
The
last thing we would like to mention is the French transport. On the
traffic lights, the green light comes directly after the red one –
the orange colour appears only within changing from the green light
to the red one. We were also surprised by the Brittany highways.
Unlike the rest of France (where's the speed limit set to 130 km/h),
in Brittany it's only 110 km/h – but the use of the highways is
free of charge.
P.S.
We were also very angry with the French keyboard. Many symbols are on
different places and it took us a very long time to get used to it.

To
hodiny, pokud to uděláte (a budete přistiženi), váš mobilní
francouzsky. Trvalo nám dlouho, než jsme vůbec dokázali něco
kloudně napsat.
