French food and gastronomy

When one goes to
France, he is bound to encounter some strange foods during his stay. And we
definitely found some “specialties“ during our week in Rennes.Welcome to
Bretagne where hot dogs are tabu, non-Bretagne food is practically forbidden
and when your shrimps are not moving on the plate, they are not fresh enough.
The French take food as a form of art, which they perfected over centuries.
Traditional French feast lasts about two to five hours and consist of many
different dishes. The meal starts with an entrée, frequently consisting of
vegetables or seafood.

Thanks to the geographic position of Bretagne, seafood
such as shrimp, flounder, oysters, sea spiders, crabs and lobsters are a traditional
part of the feast. They can also be eaten as a main course. Other typical main
courses for this part of the country are galettes, crepes with salty fillings.
There is a great number of flavors and combinations of these traditional
delicacies. What surprised us the most were pancakes with black pudding and apple
puree. Black pudding is boiled pig blood and fat, small pieces of bread and
spices. There is also a vast variety of sweet crepes, the favorite being one
with salty caramel. In-between the different dishes cheese – especially goat
cheese – and salads are served.
And
would it be a French meal if there wasn’t French wine* served? And to finish
off this wonderful meal one has a choice of Bretagne’s own desserts – the sweet
and buttery Queen Ann cake, refreshing, smooth Far cake or colorful Macaroons.
Our visit proved that French cuisine is justifiably among the best in the
world, with its magnificent chefs, colorful combinations and breathtaking
compositions of tastes.
*always good
Francouzská kuchyně
Každý cestovatel ví, že francouzská
kuchyně skýtá mnoho gastronomických dobrodružství pro každého, kdo je ochoten
ji okusit. A my jsme na naší cestě rozhodně narazili na zajímavé „pochoutky“.

Chody jsou prokládány
kozími sýry a salátem.
kuchařů, pestrých kombinací a dech beroucích kompozicí chuti.
